Invitation to become an expert for the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine
The Ministry of Education and Science (MES) of Ukraine is forming a registry of international experts to conduct scientific expertise of scientific grant proposals of the MES of Ukraine, and evaluation of Ukrainian research institutes and universities undergoing state attestation.
We invite qualified international researchers to join the expert registry. Foreign scientists who have research publications and experience in both conducting and evaluating research projects are invited to participate. While this is a voluntary, unpaid position, your expertise will play a vital role in strengthening the quality and sustainability of research in Ukraine.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How will these experts be utilized? What are they being asked to evaluate or review?
Experts will be involved in evaluating scientific grant projects of the MES of Ukraine, as well as Ukrainian research institutes and universities undergoing state attestation. The expert will review materials from scientific project applications and attestation submissions, in particular, evaluating the impact of the institution's activities.
Evaluation will be conducted according to approved forms.
2. Is this a one-time effort or ongoing process?
This is periodic work; international experts will be engaged in selected annual competitions of the MES of Ukraine and attestation of institutes and universities, which takes place once every 5 years.
3. What is the anticipated level-of-effort?
One should analyze materials submitted for competition or attestation and prepare a brief expert report using the established form. One expert can evaluate approximately up to 10 applications per year, if they provide their consent.
4. Are experts being paid and if so, how much?
At this stage, the evaluation work will be conducted on a voluntary (unpaid) basis, but will help strengthen the quality and sustainability of research in Ukraine.
5. What is the timeframe?
The expertise period, depending on the competition, is 30-45 days. Regarding attestation, it will take place throughout 2025.
6. Do experts have to be able to read/speak Ukrainian or will the reviews be conducted in English?
Materials for expertise are submitted in English. Reading/speaking Ukrainian is not required.
7. What kind of expertise is needed? Are Social Sciences included?
Yes, experts are needed in 6 scientific areas, namely: Agricultural-Veterinary; Humanities and Arts; Social; Biomedical; Natural Sciences and Mathematics; Engineering and Technology.
